If you have several moles or cysts you’d like removed, it’s natural to want everything done in one visit. Whether for cosmetic reasons, discomfort, or peace of mind, many patients ask if it’s possible to treat multiple areas during a single appointment. The short answer: yes, in many cases – but it depends on a few factors.

Is It Safe to Remove More Than One Growth at a Time?

Yes – as long as each mole or cyst is suitable for minor surgery, it’s perfectly safe to remove more than one in a single session. Dermatologists and surgeons regularly perform multiple removals during one appointment, especially when treating grouped cysts on the scalp, or several benign moles across the face or body.

The main considerations are:

  • Location of the lesions – removing several in one area is often easier than treating multiple sites
  • Procedure type – shave excision, ellipse excision, or cyst removal with sutures may affect timing
  • Patient comfort – local anaesthetic can be used across multiple sites, but longer procedures may be split for patient ease
  • Medical suitability – each lesion must be assessed individually to ensure removal is appropriate

How Many Can Be Removed at Once?

There’s no fixed limit, but most clinics will advise a reasonable maximum based on time, safety, and healing:

Type of LesionTypical Number Removable in One Visit
Mole removal (shave or ellipse excision)2–4, sometimes more if small and located together
Sebaceous/Epidermoid Cysts1–3, depending on size, depth, and location
Skin Tags or Warts5–10 or more, especially if removed via electrocautery

If you’re looking to remove more than 4 or 5 lesions, the clinic may recommend splitting the treatment across two sessions to allow for proper healing and comfort.

What to Expect at the Appointment

At your consultation, each mole or cyst will be assessed individually – even if you’ve already had them reviewed elsewhere. Dermatologists or surgeons will check for signs of infection, rule out anything suspicious, and plan a safe removal approach.

If all lesions are deemed suitable and time allows, same-day removal is usually possible. You’ll be given full aftercare instructions, and in most cases, any stitches (if required) can be removed after 7–10 days.

Booking multiple removals in one session can save time, reduce costs, and minimise the disruption to your routine – especially if you want a clean, cosmetic result with minimal downtime.
