Many people develop warts on their legs or thighs. These growths are usually harmless, but they can be uncomfortable, catch on clothing, or cause cosmetic concerns. At City Dermatology Clinic in London, we provide safe and effective wart removal procedures carried out by experienced dermatology doctors.

What Is a Papillomatous Wart?

A papillomatous wart is a raised skin growth caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They often have a rough surface and can appear on different parts of the body, including the thighs. While over-the-counter treatments may sometimes help, stubborn or larger warts often need to be removed by a doctor.

How We Removed This Wart

In this case, a 5mm papillomatous wart on the left thigh was removed by Dr Nicki Bystrzonowski. The procedure involved:

  • Shave excision using a sterile surgical blade
  • Cauterisation to control bleeding
  • Application of micropore tape to protect the area during healing

The treatment was quick, performed under local anaesthetic, and the patient was able to return home immediately afterwards.
